Russell's Circumplex Model

Our mood tracking uses James Russell's (1980) Circumplex Model of Affect, mapping emotions on two dimensions: valence (pleasant–unpleasant) and arousal (high–low energy). This creates four distinct quadrants that capture the full spectrum of human emotional experience with 24 granular emotions.
