Cognitive Defusion & Embodied Cognition
Thought Alchemy combines two evidence-based principles. Cognitive defusion (Hayes et al., 1999) from ACT therapy creates distance between you and your thoughts. Embodied cognition research shows that physical actions influence psychological states â a study by Briñol et al. (2013) found that physically discarding written thoughts reduced their influence on behavior.
